very good ammo. but would not suggest shooting from short slow twist barrels probably ideal in a 18″ 1 in 7 twist. wasting good ammo in a 16″ 1 in 9

Finally got this ammo to the range and it didn’t disappoint. This 85 grain ammo left one ragged hole on every target used. Used my new 20″ 1:8 B.A. premium spr barrel, what a combination. Well worth the expense if you are unable to reload as I am.

This is absolutely fabulous ammunition for AR’s with a 1:7 twist barrels, it has ballistic characteristics that gives users incredibly tight groups at long range. I hit a small hanging metal target dead center at 550 yards every shot. We keep a magazine of this handy for any dangerous critter that threatens our pets. My best group in my AR’s has been shot with this ammo. I shot this ammo from my 18″ 1:8 223 wylde barrel and a 16″ 1:7 match 5.56 barrel. .4 MOA, .54 MOA, and .60 MOA. To put it simple. it shoots good, darn good. Its worth the cost if you want it. Im stocking up one box at a time.

I’ll give it a pass on account of a lose stock. I took this out with three rifles, all 1:8 twists. One grouped .63 inches, the other 1.25, and the other one 2,63 inches (i had a jerked it pretty bad, the first two shots were sub MOA. All barrels are excellent. Turns out the two +MOA groups were shot with a loose stock. Since it grouped best out of my worst barrel, i have to chalk the bad groups up to that wobbly stock.

Barnes Precision Match 85gr OTM 5.56 shoot excellent in Ruger MPR AR-15 which has a 1:8 twist w/ an 18 inch barrel. My best group so far is a 3 inch @ 500 yards.

I test many brands of ammo, the Barnes match 5.56 69 and 85 gr consistently shot smaller groups at 100m to 500m in my AR 15 match gun.

Very accurate from RRA Predator AR-15, 20″ SS heavy barrel 1:8 twist. Zeroed at 100 yds with 3/8″ 5 shot group. Topped with Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6X24. Has been deadly on hogs. Nosler Match Grade 223 Remington 77 gr Custom Competition Ammo also very accurate from same rifle.

If you’re looking for multiple shots in “one ragged hole” results, this is the ammo to use. This ammunition is the most accurate I’ve used so far in my AR, and I have tried many different well known brands.

Q & A

I have a Springfield Saint Victor 7.5" barrel with a 1:7 twist. Would this ammo work well with my setup? From my understanding the faster the twist will handle the higher grain such as this 85 grain 5.56 ammo. Any suggestions appreciated. Daniel T. asked on March 28, 2022

Daniel, Barnes ammo works for both long barrel and AR pistol. Most users hunt with both.

will this ammo fit into the 5.56 magpul pmag or would it be to long. also is it safe to shoot in a ruger 556 mpr 18 inch 5r barrel 1 in 8 twist. have been told 77 gr is about as heavy as you can load in mags Travis asked on May 15, 2021

Yes it will work fine. So long as it is not a pistol length gas system it should cycle just fine.
