The brass tradition was begun by B.T. Henry’s 1860 rifle, but today’s hunter may prefer something a shade lighter on the mountain, and the 2015 introduction of the Big Boy Steel carries on the same brush gun appeal of the brass-framed Big Boys in its overall configuration, but with upgraded features for the modern hunter, while weighing in 1.68lbs. less than its cousin.
The 7lbs. steel Big Boy hangs its 20″ round barrel and checkered walnut furniture on a matte-finished blued steel frame that’s drilled & tapped for optional scope mounts, and uses the same adjustable Western-style sights as the standard Big Boy, with the same sliding transfer bar “safety” system in its hammer. Most of the weight savings is due to the steel frame being lighter than a brass counterpart to begin with, and less steel in the thinner barrel walls than an octagon version.
To make sure the steel Big Boy stays easy on the shoulder in any of its calibers, it features a black solid rubber recoil pad. For hands-free hiking up or down, it wears sling swivel studs; and a rifle-style fore-end cap instead of the usual carbine-type barrel band. And, the 2015 success of the Big Boy Steel model led to the 2016 introduction of the Big Boy Steel Carbine, in the same three calibers, with the same blued frame and round barrel, this time in 16.5” length. It comes with a glove-friendly oversized lever, and a seven-round magazine capacity. Nearly a half-pound lighter, and with an overall length of 34”, this is one trim partner to your favorite revolver in any of those three calibers, and it’s a great compact trailgun on its own.
The .44 Magnum can also shoot .44 special rounds, the .357 Magnum can also shoot .38 special rounds and the 32 H&R Magnum can also shoot 327 Federal Magnum rounds.

I’m normally drawn to lever guns, revolvers etc. but have always loved my 10-22s and used to have an old Ruger .44mag carbine. I was looking for something similar to my 10-22 but with a tad more power. I really like the Mini 14 but they are quite pricey now. This little 9mm PC carbine is a BLAST to shoot. The iron sights are good and I added a Sig red dot on a riser. Best of both worlds! I can’t believe how accurate it is even over 50 yds using bulk FMJ ammo. At 25 yards it just makes one big hole when dumping the mags. This is a super-fun gun and easy to maintain especially being take-down. I added a flashlight as well and using good hollow points it would be a great home defense weapon. Get one, shoot it and you’ll love it.

First selling point is that it takes Glock mags. What is cooler then shooting your Glock with a 33 round mag then swap the mag and put it in a carbine. Second, it has 2 picatinny rails. One on top for a sight of your choosing. It has a rail on the bottom for a bipod, laser, flashlight or however you want to customize it with. It’s lightweight and so fun to shoot. I was shooting 5 to 6 inch groups at 50 yards with a bipod and a red dot. Not sure if that is good but try that with a pistol I bet you can’t. Ok maybe some of you can.
