This Military Surplus Government Direct Purchase Magazine is one of many millions of magazines manufactured and shipped between June 1942 and August 1945 to our Armed Forces.  Government Direct Purchase was one of the prime contractors that received magazines from various sub-contractors during the war. Their stamp can be seen on this magazine, including reference to one of several sub-contractors. These magazines have been sorted by Prime Contractor and graded as listed below. They have not been sorted into Type I and Type II baseplates.

The backstory: After years of effort, our Supplier has been successful in securing a large lot of U.S. made M1 Carbine Magazines and MidwayUSA has purchased all of them! These M1 Magazines have not been arsenal refurbished. Per our Supplier, these are believed to have come directly from use in the European theatre of WWII, eventually making their way to the Italian Armed forces and have been in storage since the early 1950s. There are no records indicating how the Italian Armed Forces came into possession of these WWII M1 Magazines.

Grade 1: All magazines are surplus magazines rated in excellent to un-issued condition. Light marks may be present from quality check lock-up tests but the feed lip show virtually no wear. Magazine will be free of rust and 100% functional.

Grade 2: Magazines are in good to very good condition. They will show light signs of wear and may have very small amount of surface rust present. Magazine finish may be worn or discolored but magazine still maintains 100% of original functionality.

Grade 3: Magazines show signs of heavy use. Surface rust will be present and finish will have imperfections.

Please note that while we have taken great care in identifying these magazines, it is possible that we have mis-identified one or two along the way.  We sincerely apologize if you receive a mis-identified magazine.
