Pietta Rebel Confederate Black Powder Revolver 44 Caliber 7.5″ Barrel Brass Frame Blue Information
Although the resourcefully equipped Confederate soldier could not compete with Union repeating rifles, it was a different story when it came to revolvers. These handguns did not typically require a special type of ammunition, making them easy for Southern troops to acquire and operate. The brass frame “Navy Type” revolvers are identified with the Confederate manufacturers Griswold & Gunnison, and Leech & Rigdon. Brass was used for the frames because of the scarcity of iron in the United States. They were modeled after the Colt Navys and feature a blued 7 1/2” octagon barrel. This 6 shot single action revolver was one of the most widely used. Originally offered in .36 Caliber this replica is offered in .44. This replica also features an 7.375″ blued rifled barrel, brass frame, brass guard, and walnut grip.
