TOPS Knives FMS Frog Market Special Fixed Blade Kitchen Knife 5.25″ Clip Point 1095 High Carbon Alloy Blade Canvas Micarta Handle Tan Information
The Frog Market Special is a unique blade, especially for us at TOPS. A thickness of only 1/16th of an inch makes this knife the thinnest knife we have offered so far.
The Frog Market Special is made of 1095 High Carbon Steel and has Tan Canvas Micarta scales. It has TOPS famous Black River Wash that is one of the most popular finishes we have ever offered. The wide heel allows for deep, shearing cuts. The steep curve up to the edge slices well. As you use the knife, you’ll notice it has an ergonomic handle that is very comfortable. The thinner steel allows for clean, smooth cuts and gives the blade some added flexibility over thicker knives. The tip is also ideal for boning meats like chicken and pork. Although the Frog Market Special is great in the kitchen, you’ll find a myriad of uses for it while camping, fishing, and hunting as well.
Steven Dick, who is an editor with Tactical Knives, refined this design based on what he saw on a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. He saw butchers and fish mongers using knives with a pattern he’d never seen before. They were able to prepare meats and fish of many varieties easily using their unique blades. But rest assured, although the inspiration for the Frog Market Special comes from the markets in Vietnam, the knives are still manufactured and hand-finished right here in the Rocky Mountains, USA.
